COMMANDER

  Lieutenant General Dimokritos Konstantakos

Lieutenant General Dimokritos Konstantakos was born in 1966 in Gythio, Lakonia. He was admitted to the Hellenic Military Academy (Evelpidon) in 1983 and graduated in 1987 as Infantry Second Lieutenant.

As a junior Officer, he served in Army Units as Platoon Leader and Company Commander.

He has attended all required Infantry Officer Training Courses.

In 2000 he attended the Army War College and in 2002 the Joint National Defence Staff Officer College.

During his career as a senior Officer, he served in the 96th Higher National Guard Battalions Command.

In 2005, he was assigned as Commander of the 572nd Special Infantry Battalion and then as Staff Officer in HAGS.

Upon his promotion to Colonel in 2012, he attended the Hellenic National Defence College and then, in 2013, he was reassigned to HAGS.

In 2015, he was assigned as Commander of the 1/38 National Guard Battalions Command in Rhodes.

In 2016, he was reassigned to HAGS as Deputy Director of the Infantry Directorate.

In 2017, he was promoted to Brigadier General and assigned as Commanding General of the 96th Higher National Guard Battalions Command in Chios.

In 2018, he was assigned to HAGS as Director of the Training Division.

In 2019, upon his promotion to Major General, he was assigned as Commanding General of the II Mechanised Infantry Division “ELASSON”.

In 2020, he was assigned to HAGS as Deputy Commander of the Army Inspectorate General – Doctrine and Training Command and then, in 2021, as Director, A Staff Directorate.

On 8 March 2022, he was promoted to Lieutenant General and he was assigned to HAGS as Chief of Staff.

On 17 January 2023, upon decision of the Governmental Council for Foreign Affairs and Defence, he assumed his duties as Commanding General D’ Army Corps “THRAKI”. On 15 January 2024, upon decision of the Government Council on Foreign Policy and National Defense, he assumed his duties as Commander of the Hellenic 1st ARMY/EU-OHQ.

He has been awarded all decorations, commendations, and medals provided for his rank. He holds a Masters Degree in Applied Strategy and International Security from the University of Plymouth and in Environment, Disaster, and Crisis Management Strategies from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
