Major General Konstantinos GAKIS

Major General Konstantinos GAKIS was born in 1969 in Farsala (prefecture of Larissa). He was admitted to the Hellenic Military Academy (Evelpidon) in 1986 and graduated in 1990 as Infantry Second Lieutenant.

As junior Officer, he served in Special Forces Units as Platoon Leader and Company Commander.

He attended all required Infantry and Special Forces Schools, Special Forces Courses at the International Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol School in Germany and Special Forces (Q course) in the USA (distinguished graduate). Also he attended NATO Combined CFE Arms Control Verification Inspector/Escort, Strategic Intelligence School, NATO PfP Media & Communication Course (Advanced Level), the Hellenic Supreme Joint War College and the Hellenic National Defense College.

In 2009, he was assigned as Commander of 5th Special Amphibious Squadron and in 2012 as Commander of Z΄ Special Amphibious Squadron.

As a senior Officer, he served in 13th Special Operations Command as staff officer and Chief CJ5, in HAGS as staff officer, and in HAGS/Special Forces Directorate as Chief of CJ3.

In 2020, he was promoted to Brigadier General and he was assigned as Commander of 13th Special Operations Command.

In 2021, he was assigned as Chief of Staff of the Higher Military Command of Interior and Islands “AIGEAS”.

In 2022, he was assigned as Director of the Operation Directorate/HAGS.

In 2023, upon his promotion to Major General he assumed his duties as Chief of Staff of the Hellenic 1st ARMY/EU-OHQ.

Major General Konstantinos GAKIS has been awarded all decorations, commendations and medals provided for his rank.

He holds a Masters Degree in Strategic Security Studies from Panteion University, department of International, European and Area Studies.
