On 20 March 2024, while conducting close protection task under Greece-led ASPIDES operation in Southern Red Sea, a French destroyer detected a Houthi aerial attack drone threatening the commercial navigation.
The embarked helicopter, then patrolling in the area, was guided by the destroyer to engage and destroy the drone with its machine gun, in order to protect the merchant vessels. Prior to this interception, all ships in vicinity were duly informed on the radio tosteer clear from the attack UAV loitering area.
