On 27 November 2025, Lieutenant General Stavros PAPASTATHOPOULOS, Commander of the Hellenic 1st Army/EU-OHQ, attended the “2025 EU Commanders’ Conference” at the Joint Multinational Headquarters in Ulm Germany. The conference brought together members of the EU Military Staff, Commanders of EU Operations and the Commanders of all Operations Headquarters. The Director General of the EU Military Staff Lieutenant General Michiel VAN DER LAAN presided at the conference.
This year’s conference focused on the overarching theme “Interoperability”, reflecting the growing need for closer coordination and harmonization within the EU’s operational structures. Participants received briefings and had fruitful discussions on several important topics for the operational posture of the European Union, such as Advance Operational Planning, Communications and Information Systems / Cyber Defense, Intelligence, Training and Exercises, and the latest developments related to the EU Rapid Deployment Capacity.
